These are America’s least favorite McDonald’s locations
‘By far the worst service of any McDonald’s,’ one review said of the lowest reviewed restaurant
The U.S.’s least favorite McDonald’s franchises have been revealed, with three of the bottom 10 being found in Michigan, according to a report.
The worst-reviewed McDonald’s in the country, though, can actually be found in Surprise, Arizona, with the fast-food restaurant receiving an average rating of 1.55 stars on Google Reviews.
The data was compiled by experts at web firm SEO Backlinks, whose founder told Arizona’s Family that the rating system was one of the few ways to differentiate one franchise from another.
“Every McDonald’s sells the same menu at much the same price, so the star rating on Google is the only thing that sets one apart from the next,” SEO Backlinks Founder Oliver Weston said.
The mammoth restaurant chain has long been a national favorite, with ScrapeHero estimating that McDonald’s has 13,920 restaurants across the United States. Texas is home to the most locations, with 1,291 eateries being found in the Lone Star State.
Not every visit is a success, though, with one review of the Surprise location seen by Fox 8 reading: “Drive-thru times are horrendous here, even when there’s low traffic.”
Another read: “By far the worst service of any McDonald’s.”
Joining the restaurant in the top 10 worst-reviewed McDonald’s locations were restaurants in Goshen, Indiana, which received 1.99 stars; Auburn, Alabama, which received 2.27 stars; and St. Clair Shores, Michigan, which received 2.28 stars.
The best franchise in the country can apparently be found in Eagle Pass, Texas, which was rated 4.25 stars out of 5, according to the data company. The Texas-based eatery was closely followed by a site in Calexico, California, which scored 4.23 stars.
Every McDonald's in the top 10 list scored above four stars, with the restaurant in 10th place - another restaurant in Eagle Pass - scoring 4.14 stars. That is over two and a half times more stars than McDonald’s in Surprise.
Despite the fast-food chain’s immense popularity, the company made headlines in recent weeks amid alleged concerns among franchisees over the firm asking them to complete $800,000 remodels of more than 46,000 restaurants.
According to Bloomberg, the $8.5 billion strategy will see changes being made to the store’s technology, kitchens, design and operations, although franchises have questioned both the cost of the project and other details surrounding it.
